after years of seeing this picture in a book, after years of seeing other work by my favourite contemporary artist. Gerhard Richter held a portrait exhibition which lived upto all of my expectations,with the highlight being this print that I bought and framed. The real thing is almost three times the size and even more colourful and  vivid in its format and style. Every time I show it to people they say what a great photo and then I have to remind them that it was originally painted. My brain simply does not allow me to understand how light and shade can create something so real and beautiful.
